British International School of Zagreb visit to Zagreb Zoo
The British International School of Zagreb has organised a visit to the Zagreb Zoo for its students to visit different animals and their habitats. The students could get to know some of the animals by looking through the fence or glass, but also up close by petting them. Some of the habitats were so vivid and full of rare animals that students took pictures and read the descriptions on every info wall. The weather was nice, so the British school also organised lunch in a nearby restaurant. With laughter and socialising in a nice environment, the students talked and described their experiences with their colleagues and teachers while eating good food.

Primary students presentation of the British International School of Zagreb
Primary students of the British International School of Zagreb presented their works that they had been diligently creating for the past 6 weeks in the library. On a pre-selected topic, they researched the material, extracted important information and then created a poster in order to better and more easily show their colleagues that they themselves had mastered the topic assigned to them. As it is a British international school, we could hear interesting facts about women throughout history, Great British people or Britons, space and the human brain. All this was researched by our diligent students, collected data and delighted us with a wonderful presentation. With a lot of new information and interesting events, the students exchanged ideas and created the impression of a real desire to learn the material and transfer knowledge to the other participants of this event. We will be honest in the description, so we can say that the professors learned some of the things for the first time at these presentations

King Charles III
On Tuesday 14th November King Charles III was celebrating his 75th birthday. The book about his life The Leadership and Vision of a Modern Monarch was lunched that Tuesday in the most prestigious hotel in London Claridge’s in front of 200 invited guest among whom was also our Principal Dr. Sci. Martin-Tino Časl with his wife Zdenka Časl. Author is Robert Robson who has been a keen observer of the Royal Family and the history, tradition and changing persona of British royalty for more than 30 years. A royal editor and correspondent for major media outlets around the world, he has extensive first-hand experience of royal life – both in the glare of public scrutiny and behind the scenes – having toured with the royals on countless occasions. Arthur Edwards, whose photography features within pages of book, is a legend of royal reporting. From the mid-‘70s onwards, wherever the senior royals have traveled, Arthur and his camera have accompanied them, documented over 200 royal tours to more than 120 countries. The book also includes a wider societal narrative, highlighting stories of success and progress during His Majesty’s lifetime in social, technological and commercial spheres. The book presents a celebration of Charles’s life and achievements in the year of his Coronation and 75th birthday, and looks forward to how he intends to shape the future of the monarchy over the years to come. The book has 6 chapters: The young prince; Family life; The new king; The global leader; An environmental pioneer; A vision of modern Britain. In the last chapter there are several British schools presented including British International School of Zagreb. We are very honored that our school is included in this magnificent monograph. It was presented by authors and Craig Vye from St James's House. In a very spontaneous environment, the three of them told numerous anecdotes about Charles's life from his school days to the present day. They were joined by Kevin Gant - The Mirror Photographer and Ken Wharfe - Former personal protection officer to the Princess of Wales, Prince William and Prince Henry. Our Principal spent a pleasant afternoon talking to old acquaintances from previous promotions at Westminster Abbey, two and four years ago. The pictures show part of the atmosphere from that event.

300 Years of Leadership and Innovation
The official launch of 300 Years of Leadership and Innovation was a truly memorable occasion, with more than 700 guests from all over the world, including MPs and members of the media, gathering in the historic setting of Westminster Abbey's Cloisters to attend the presentation of this prestigious publication. Launched to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the appointment of Britain's first prime minister, Robert Walpole, in 1721, and in the year of Her Majesty The Queen's 95th birthday, the book celebrates leadership across the full spectrum of British society: from Parliament and Crown to captains of industry and those pushing the boundaries of innovation. The book was presented by the editors Gordon Marsden, MP, the History of Parliament Trust's chairman, Royal correspondent Robert Jobson and Stephen van der Merwe from St. James House. Celebrating the best of British leadership, 300 Years of Leadership and Innovation features expertly written articles on those who have shaped British society, past and present: from Walpole to Cromwell, Churcill to Blair, The Queen and Prince Charles to captains of industry and innovation. Among other captains of industry and innovation there is a page in chapter Education and Creative Minds dedicated to our founder and Principal dr. sc. Martin-Tino Časl and his family, supporting wife Zdenka Časl and his son Tino Sven Časl. His educational philosophy is presented under the title Croatian theory. After previous articles about dr. sc. Martin-Tino Časl's work and achivements in education, science and sport in Innovation 800 (monography celebrating 800th anniversary of Cambridge University) and also in The Commonwealth at 70: From Westminster to the World (celebrating 70th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Nations) it is another compliment to our founder and Principal dr. Časl and our school. The British International School of Zagreb is the only school out of UK that is presented in this prestigious publication.

How we were able to prevent the spreading of Covid-19
We are proud to be the only educational-sporting system (kindergarten, primary, middle and secondary school, examination center and sports club) in Croatia, Europe and one of few in the world who is continuously working on site; including school and sports facilities (halls, swimming pool and playgrounds). Achieving such a fantastic result could only be accomplished through the great cooperation and teamwork with parents, students and staff, who have worked together in not allowing the spreading of Covid-19 within our school collective. We can read of this in newspapers and the press. Thank you everyone for your cooperation and we will continue to work jointly in maintaining such great results.

International Day 2019
The annual BISZ International Day was held late November with the aim of raising money for the Emergency Surgical Ward of the Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Zagreb. They contend with over thirty thousand responses annually and require all the assistance possible. We are proud to announce that we raised 13612 HRK to help their cause which is truly a fantastic effort. Parents, teachers and students prepared amazing stands from eleven different countries: Croatia, UK, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, China, Venezuela and Peru. Students studied their countries and prepared posters and made arts and crafts. Amidst our visitors, we were honoured to have the UK Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia Mr. Andrew Dalgleish attend our special humanitarian fundraiser. One of the other highlights of the day was the performance by internationally acclaimed musicians Ana and Mario Rucner. A big thank you goes to all the parents who helped prepare traditional dishes. September and October
The first half of the term is officially over with our students and staff taking a break to re-energise for the second part. It has been a successful period where many wonderful things have been happening at BISZ. Students have been to several theatres including PIF and Scena Vidra where they watched the classic ‘A Christmas Carol.’ Almost the entire school spent the day at Lake Jarun which was a ball! The weather was amazing and the children had lots of time to play, team building and get to know one another. Academically, our students are working hard in all key subject areas. Some of the highlights include Science Presentations on plants species through to volcanoes. Others took on roles as chefs and gave instructions on how to cook wonderful recipes. Poetry recitals have been reinforced with students taking the spotlight in class whilst reciting given poems. The theme for our school assemblies this year is on famous musical artists and bands with presentations on Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Beyoncé up till now. And the school term was capped off with a Halloween Costume Day which was spookily fun!

THE COMMONWEALTH AT 70: FROM WESTMINSTER TO THE WORLD
One third of the human population (2.4 billion people), 53 countries and over 3 trillion USD of exports – that is what makes up the Commonwealth of Nations today. The signing of the London Declaration in 1949 heralded the birth of the Commonwealth of Nations. Exploring the build-up to this major moment in modern history and the Commonwealth’s development and influence over the past seven decades, The Commonwealth at 70: From Westminster to the World is a thought-provoking and beautifully designed hardback book. In that magnificent monography of 350 pages, two pages are dedicated to our British International School of Zagreb and our founder and Principal Martin-Tino Časl describing his contribution to innovations in education and his successes in sport. It is a great honour if we take into account that only ten schools in the world were selected for inclusion in this publication presentation and our school is the only one selected out of Commonwealth countries! Our Director Tino Sven Časl was a co-author of that text. Researched and written by leading academics, this heavily illustrated publication features archive prints, maps and portraits that detail the story of one of the world’s most important and far-reaching international organisations. The launching of this book was held on 25th June in a very appropriate place - at the Westminster Abbey. Gordon Marsden, MP, the History of Parliament Trust’s chairman, gave a comprehensive account of parliamentary politics in England, then Britain, from their origins in the 13th century. The trust is regarded as one of the most ambitious, authoritative and well-researched academic projects in British history. Royal correspondent Robert Jobson, a co-author of the book, talked about Prince Charles and his connections with the Commonwealth. Stephen van der Merwe, one of the book’s editor, spoke about the difficulty of writing texts for such a demanding publication. Our Principal had the privilege to speak with all of them and also some other distinguished guests from the educational and financial sectors. You can also get a feeling of the atmosphere by browsing through the following photos.

We are so proud to have helped this amazing hospital which does so much for so many children. Our students sang two songs as a school, ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars, and the classic ‘Hello to all the children of the world’. Supreme vocalist Damir Kedžo made a guest appearance and joined in on the festivities, he sang two of his hit songs. A big thank you to our PTA, students, staff, parents and friends for all their support and we hope to do even better in organizing the 2019 International Day.
