The IPC Programme at the British International School of Zagreb (BISZ)

A World-Class Primary Education for Curious Young Minds Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. At the British International School of Zagreb (BISZ), we understand that parents want more than just excellent academics — they want their children to be happy, confident, and inspired to learn.
That’s why our Primary School follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), a globally recognised programme that nurtures both intellectual and personal growth.
What Makes the IPC Special? The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is used in over 90 countries worldwide. It is a theme-based, inquiry-led curriculum designed to make learning exciting and meaningful for children aged 5 to 11. Each unit of learning connects subjects such as science, history, geography, art, and technology through engaging topics like “Explorers and Adventurers” or “How the World Works.”
By linking subjects together, children see how their learning applies to the real world — helping them understand, question, and care about the world around them.
A Balanced Approach to Learning The IPC focuses on three key areas of development:
Academic Learning – building strong knowledge and understanding across all core subjects.
Personal Growth – encouraging skills like communication, resilience, and cooperation.
International Mindedness – helping children appreciate other cultures and perspectives, and understand what it means to be a global citizen.

At BISZ, these elements come together in a warm and inclusive environment where every child is valued as an individual.
How Learning Happens Each IPC unit begins with an “Entry Point” — an exciting activity designed to spark curiosity and enthusiasm for the new topic. Children then take part in a variety of interactive lessons and hands-on experiences that promote exploration, teamwork, and creativity.
At the end of each unit, students share what they have learned through an “Exit Point” celebration — a presentation, exhibition, or creative project that invites parents and the school community to see their progress in action.
Why Parents Choose BISZ Parents choose the British International School of Zagreb because of our commitment to providing a well-rounded education that prepares children not just for secondary school, but for life.
While our caring teachers and small class sizes allow every child to flourish at their own pace BISZ students develop confidence, independence, and a genuine love for learning — qualities that will stay with them wherever life takes them.
