TRIP TO THE PAST - OPG ŠIMANOVIĆ - British International School of Zagreb
To cap off another school year, an excursion was arranged towards Zagreb's area of Donja Zdenčina where British International School of Zagreb students visited an ethno farm named Šimanović. On site, students are taken back to a distant past where they see how people used to live from their own hands and crafting skills. They were taken on a tractor and cart to see local farm animals and the different types of shelters that they live in. British International School of Zagreb students learned about the machines used in agriculture, as well as tools and how to use them. They then went on to see the vast number of storks in the area with their nests made above light posts. There were so many in such a small area. Finally, the students were shown the different types of trees that grow in the area from oak, pear, birch, and more. Once back at the ethno farm, a lovely lunch was prepared and students had free time to play in the playground and grass area. The ethno room display and presentation included an old iron, cradle, sewing machine, wardrobe, linen, and more. Before heading back to school, the students were able to buy souvenirs which enabled them to engrave names or initials on small necklaces with a wooden pendant.
